Construction Technologies
Upon completion of the Construction Technologies 2-year program, our graduates will have gained an opportunity to earn credentials in National Center for Construction and Research Core, National Center for Construction and Research Carpentry, and OSHA 10 preparing them for direct entry into the workforce and/or into a construction apprenticeship program. The focus of these credentials includes orientation to the trade, building materials, fasteners and adhesives, hand and power tools, introduction to construction drawings, specifications and layout, floor and wall systems, ceiling joist and roof framing, basic stair layout, and an introduction to building envelope systems. This program is housed at Westland High School, but is open to all Juniors and Seniors across the district as a two-year program.
