Developing a Foundation for a Successful Career in the Engineering Profession

Do you enjoy solving and working your way through problems? Are you an analytical thinker who likes to  create, design, and build? If you answered yes to any of these, then the Engineering Technologies program might be the right fit for you. In this project-based class, students learn the ins and outs of engineering and advanced manufacturing. Students will learn hands-on utilizing the latest in technology from the program's computer-aided drafting software to advanced CNC machining and industrial robotics controls to full manufacturing facility simulators and their connected Programmable Logic Controls (PLCs). Students will have access to learn how to work through programming all these advanced technologies. In addition, students will have the opportunity to compete in local, state, and national robotics competitions such as the National Robotics Challenge and Vex Robotics Competitions.

These transcripted credits are transferable to many area universities, including schools such as The Ohio State University. In many cases, the “Project Lead the Way” coursework taken at the South-Western Career Academy replaces introductory engineering courses in majors such as Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Project-based curriculum
  • Activities are both individual and team project oriented
