Medical Assisting: A Snapshot

Medical Assisting - 14 out of Ohio’s 50 largest employers are in the healthcare industry and Medical Assisting is a career field throughout the entire industry. This program focuses on entry-level skills in this growing industry. Students will learn medical terminology, billing and coding, how to safeguard medical records, information systems, the business of the healthcare industry, and more. Medical Assisting is a healthcare profession that involves a variety of clinical and administrative tasks to support doctors and other medical staff in clinics, hospitals, and medical offices. Students learn to combine the skills of medical, business, and computer foundations to handle electronic medical records and deliver quality service for patients. Their duties vary with the location, specialty, and size of the practice. Students entering this exciting program will be able to earn their National Healthcare Association Electronic Health Records Specialist certification, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant certification,  CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 10.
