The Study of Dental Technologies Procedures and Patient Care
Dental Technologies is designed to prepare students for entry into a career in dentistry. The curriculum includes dental terminology, anatomy, fundamental patient care skills, chairside assisting, laboratory skills, dental radiography, sterilization, patient education, infection control procedures, OSHA, CPR, and First Aid training. Real-life experiences are provided through various ongoing community relationships such as our connection with The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Students are encouraged to participate in Work-Based Learning as soon as they qualify. Students earn a Dental Assistant Radiographer License as well as the Registered Dental Assistant certification.
Students learn how to be professionals and are made work-ready. They may choose to work in general dentistry or a specialty field such as pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, orthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, etc. Students with an interest in becoming an Expanded Function Dental Assistant, hygienist, or dentist can begin their career here and get a jump start before continuing their education after high school. Successful Dental Technologies students share a passion for working with and helping others and have a positive attitude, strong communication skills, empathy, and patience.
