Overview

The Heating and Cooling career field is expected to grow 5 percent from 2021-2031, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. As energy efficiency and the need to reduce pollution become more prominent, more intricate heating and cooling systems will be expected to grow. Due to this, the demand for qualified HVAC technicians will increase.

  • Principles of heating and cooling
  • Installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of residential and commercial HVAC systems
  • Fundamentals of sheet metal trade
  • Components of ductwork systems
  • Use of architect and engineer's scales to read and interpret construction drawings 
  • Laws of thermodynamics, pressure and temperature relationships, the refrigeration cycle, and refrigerant management
  • Hydronic systems, chilled water systems, package units, and cooling towers
